Yelrow
Greetings, i need assistance from any older model rocket owners. On this model there are two cylinders, up which the rods move up and down. My RH cylinder, the one with the gold semi circle, on top, is loose, and moves up and down, causing loco, not to move. The other side. is fixed. I need to fix this side, and have no idea, how it locates, etc. Dont want to glue it, if simply, a pin has come adrift. Its part no 6490, for the tech guys. It is my 77th birthday gift from Heather, and needs to run by Wednesday. No urgency, but would like a quick response, please. Thanks.

Going Spare
From what I remember, both slidebar mouldings clip in to the side of the boiler, the bottom end first and then the clip at the top end of the slide bars. If either clip has broken, glueing may be the only option.
Yelrow
Merci beaucoup. Bottom clip ok, but top one may be broken. Do they just pull off. Have you taken one apart. John

Yelrow
Sarah, thank you, it does show 2 pins, so when i have courage, i will attempt to remove/ glue.
Ruffnut Thorston
No problem. 😀 If I remember correctly.... The bottom clip is a "C" shape that clips around the boiler location slot. The top clip has a barb, that really should be eased from inside the boiler moulding, to clear the square hole in the boiler. To remove, top clip first, then the bottom clip should disengage... Yelrow
Saharagain, hi, taken out offending side. Pin, is fine, long and round, but the sosket, is kinda diamond shape, bigger than the pin.. First reaction, is to glue it in, but would value your impout. It would appear, no barb, as it came straight out.
Ruffnut Thorston
Hi. I suppose that you could shim the socket for the pin, to make it a tighter fit? Or maybe use PVA glue, which should hold it in place, but be possible to break the glue joint if required?
Yelrow
Thanks, will look into merhods of fixation, i wired it, so establish correct position of The pin, but needs a tidier solution
