Fitting a DCC chip to LMS tender driven loco

Hi,

 

I hope this isn't a repeat as my 'request timed out' when I orignally tried to post.  I've spent most of today fitting DCC chips to some of my favourite DC locos.  I even managed to fit one to Smokey Joe and it brough back memories of my GCSE Electronics!

 

I'm currently stuck on fitting one to a LMS Princess Alexandra (picture 1).  I couldn't find any advice so far on the forum (apologies if there is, but I mustn't have been using the correct words), and I tried looking at the advice from Hornby.  The closest I could find was the Flying Scotsman tender driven instructions.  Picture 2 is what I've managed to do so far.  Currently the loco will work backwards very well on DC but barely moves fowards.  When I attach it to the DCC track it buzzes on and off and the controller screen and LEDs flash.

 

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated!
