Going Spare
Welcome to the forum.Hornby do not offer a freight train pack with an electric loco so you wili have to create the train from individual items. Have a look through the website and see what appeals to you. Hornby's era system gives an indication of the period that any loco, coach or wagon was operated but it is your railway and you do not have to be bound by authenticity. Have fun! 96RAF
That would depend upon if the Boxed set was the analogue or digital version. No good pointing you down the wrong road. Be aware when you buy a train set (analogue or digital) you get another controller and more of the same track that you likely already have. Train packs can be good value but may not suit your Freight theme as often they are book end locos. It is often better to invest your money on more suitable track to make a layout extension and a specific loco or rolling stock of your themed choice. By the way there is no need to type in Initial Capitals, regular sentence case will do and is easier to read.
Buz
Hi LucasFMy thoughts are well you have your first set you need to make a few decisions on the type of railway you want and how you are going to control it, and negotiate the biggest space arrangement you can have for a permanent layout. These decisions need to be made early on so that the limited train budget gives you the biggest bang per pound possible. How you plan to control it is really a now decision as this will decide what locomotives you buy and do you need to chip them or not.I can't find a Hornby reference to The Orient Express so I am guessing its steam powered but not knowing what control system it uses or the one you ultimately want makes it a bit hard. For now untill the important decisions have been made I would sugest one of the wagon packs these usualy contain three wagons and you will also need to get a suitable brake van you can always get another locomotive later on.There is plenty of suitable extra rollingstock and other bits to choose from, but it helps to know what you want to achieve to make the best choices and for us offer the best possible advice for you to make hopefully the right choices for you.regards John
