null_null981707818070
Hi all,I wonder if anyone can help . . . I found this in my uncle's attic. He was 91 when he died last year, and I think he must have had this as a kid, since he had no kids of his own.I LOVE restoration projects of all kinds, and I'd love to know the basic specs of this kit. That way I can set about fixing it up, if indeed it is possible to do so.I can't seem to figure out what year/guage/scale etc. I've looked online a bit but no joy yet.Could anyone help shed some light on this for me? I'd be hugely appreciative. The box is big and really crammed with tracks and engines/cars etc. Keep me busy in winter! Thanks so much!Chris

5Dublo2
That's gonna be some restoration project - looks like relatively early Gauge O, clockwork set. (Oh and what looks like an old Pillar Box Money Box with a missing top.) You might have one or two rare trucks (if a bit battered and rusty). Also I have a feeling (but am not 100% sure) that the signal and buffer stops might be rare items Oh and for anyone else trying to open the links, they work better when separated and then copied into a browser https://ibb.co/XXM6HSC https://ibb.co/zfNNYP0
JJ73
Thanks 5Dublo2 for separateing the 2 links - I didn't notice that & couldn't get them to work at 1st!!! @ NullNull :- Great Photos - Yep looks like O Gauge to me aswell - for the Track Only - you may need somethink like 'Rust Eater' to clean up the track with!!! Liking the Red 0-4-0 Loco 😀Check the underside of the Locos & rolling stock & take a close look at them - it may be printed of the company who made it - say Triang may be - & which Country it was made it!!! 5Dublo2
Just in case you are unfamilar with O Gauge track - as well as the ends of the rails fittiing into each other they sometimes had clips that slide across the lips of the sleepers under connected rails to stop them separating. As such if you find some odd metal plates that if I remember correctly are about the same size as the sleepers they may be the rail clips.
Rana Temporia
I got a job lot of this type of stuff once with some Tri-ang equipment I bought. The stuff I had was clockwork Hornby and there were a couple of rails with a moveable tab that contacted the reversing switch on the underside of the loco. The track being intended for clockwork was 2 rail with no means of electrifying it. I'm not an expert on this, I sold it all on but there were other similar makes at the time including Bing and Brimtoy who did some trains in O and some in OO. I'm not sure if Mettoy did some as well, they may be linked to Brimtoy? I kept one of the locos as an ornament, it still works perfectly But has a missing funnel And cylinders. VESPA
Crikey! That brings back memories of a long lost friend, whose uncle gave him a few boxes of Hornby 0 guage. I invited him to have a look at my HD 00 layout 9x4. His first comment was my trains were smaller than his. On going to look at his boxes of trains, they were all clockwork items with signals, points, wagons etc. We got the whole lot ot and made a circuit around 30 feet x 8 feet in his driveway. Fantastic day putting all together and running my 0-4-0 green LNER tank loco and two brown coaches. The trouble was it wouldn't go all the way around with winding it up again.
