Ard Lochan
I am about to embark on a flocking mission but there is something I need to know: What do you do with the earth lead? I have an inkling that if attached to the track all that static will not do my decoders the power of good. Maybe a screw into the baseboard perhaps, Any clues welcome. Regards, Ard. Chrissaf
As a safety precaution remove ALL DCC devices from the layout, includes disconnecting your controller. Do not clip the earth crocodile clip to the track rails..The normally accepted practice is to lightly hammer in a thin nail / panel pin and attach the earth return lead to that via a crocodile clip. The panel pin / thin nail goes into the centre of the area that has been covered in glue (I assume PVA). You could use a screw if you prefer rather than a nail. But a nail / pin leaves a smaller hole behind.
morairamike
Sorry double post.Flocking also works well on top of other scenary like ballast and cultivated lawns to give a better appearance to the area. Buy sand colored ballast for N gauge to make gravel paths in churchyards and gardens.
Ard Lochan
As an alternative to Removing over 100 loco`s and their wagons and coaches I have decided to put the flock on thin card cut to shape for the areas that needs to be done thus negating the risk, Regards, Ard
Bulleidboy
When I used Woodland Scenics flock, it came straight out of the jar(?) onto the PVA covered area. The jar has a split lid, half being a large hole and half like a pepper pot (but with larger holes). It worked well - no need to remove loco's from layout and I didn't even think about using a static grass applicator.
