leongerdes
Hello,I recently sold my old Hogwarts Express (with Sound) via ebay. Regarding to my buyer, it has an issue with its transmission. The motor spins the gear on the wheels, but the gear does not transmit the power to the wheel itself. What could be the issue? How can I solve this? The locomotive is old, but was not used much. I also dont find any parts on the Hornby Site or Service Manual or something in this direction. I already wrote the Hornby Service, but it looks like they would need a few more days...Thanks in advance. Best regards

Chrissaf
There is a forum BUG fault at present affecting adding clickable URLs and images. Look at the thread titled "403 Forbidden error message" located in the "Website & Forum feedback" forum.
ColinB
The gear is probably split. Can you hear any clicking? It is meant to be tight on the shaft which it sounds like it isn't.
atom3624
Sounds like what ColinB has said. If it's loose on the shaft, it'll turn anyway, so you'll probably not even hear clicking. IF it is the case, it'll mean locating the correct gear - need to refer to the Hornby Service Sheet relevant to your locomotive.Whatever, an agreed return, or further investigation and repairs are required. I always like 'the challenge' - it's an opportunity to learn something new.Of course, it also depends on whether the part(s) is/are available. Al.
