Oztrains
On a DC model train layout are you able to run locomotives at each end such as a top and tail or push pull type in real life or will this damage the locomotives
atom3624
Welcome to the forum. In theory YES, but you will need 2 locomotives which perform similarly, so that they're not pulling / pushing off the train of wagons / carriages, nor one taking the strain more than the other, the other simply 'there for the ride'. GWR 14xx Tank
In the "Search Forums" box at the bottom of the page, search "Double Headers", click on the top result, and there is a few pages of good information about safely double heading. There are also links within that thread to more information.
Puffed Out
Another idea for what you are asking, is to have a 'dummy' Loco acting as a part of the double header or a 'push me pull me'.I have two steam Locos the same, but one had a motor that was toasted, so I removed the motor for the 'dummy' loco. This is only advisable if the powered Loco is up to job of pulling the 'dummy' and the other rolling stock.
