Double O Dave
I have a selection of models, all built by me, dating from late 60's. I am just wondering if there is any interest from collectors for this kind of thing. I need to reduce the amount of stuff I have stored in the loft and am loath to just bin them and charity shops will not be interested I guess. Grateful for any suggestions or opinions. Ratch
Put them up for auction on e-bay.
0taku
In my experience once started they lose their value almost completely, even a kit built up to a good standard holds less than it's original retail value, the exceptions being rare long out of production kits that are difficult if not impossible to find complete and in good condition. But, as Ratch suggested, online auction sites may yield results
Kenneth ONeill
Agreed; Flea-bay, like any other auction, is potentially pathological, so it depends partly on the subjects. Long out of prodiction ones such as the Austin Maxi. Morris Marina and Sunbeam Rapier will be worth more than things like the Supermarine Spitfire IX or the railway stock kits,
Cliverdee
I have been quite surprised in how military subjects sell on e bay ... on a few occasions due to moving house I've sold individual or a number of tanks, trucks, boats in the auction for reasonable amounts. Individual 1:35 or 1:48 military models will sell and putting e.g half a dozen 1:76 and 1:72 Airfix / Revell tanks and other military vehicles together sell also. The 1:35s went for around £35 odd each whilst a box of Airfix 1:76 models for about £ 25 ...a pair of RAF launches went for quite a lot more to a buyer who's grandad had served on them in the war ... so people do look on e bay for completed models for a variety of purposes. They do need to be fairly well made & painted, and need lots of good accompanying photos to show buyers what they're getting. I don't know if aircraft sell but think they would be a b****r to safely package in the post so I've never bothered trying those on e bay ... the majority of my aircraft on one house move disturbingly had to go in the bin although I did rescue all the pilots for future duties ! ... I wouldn't want to buy completed kits as my fun is in the construction ... so perhaps it's a wargaming or a display thing for those who focus on the scenery and figure aspects in dioramas but don't want to make the vehicles ...
