TTS equivalence question.

They would fit as the decoder is a standard size across the range and the speaker is either round or oblong, but whether the sounds would be acceptable to the new owner is debatable. The main thing folk look for is any peculiar characteristic of the chuff and of course different regions of the railway had unique whistles, e.g. LNER screech and chime whistles on the main line expresses and the GWR locos had a fairly generic whistle sound, certain locos had a characteristic clank of the coupling rods, others were smooth as silk, etc.

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere or is just a plain silly question.

I have bought a couple of presents for relations namely a King and a Castle Class locomotive.  However the Hornby TTS components (R8109 for the R3534 King Edward 2 6023 and R8110 for the R3454 Drysllwyn Castle 5076) are listed as out of stock.

Is there an alterative part number that would substitute for the R8109 and R8110?  I expect any four cylinder locomotive sound card would be about right - assumining it fits.
