atom3624
Is yours one with the smoke deflectors missing, or is it an earlier era one, during LMS, which may not have had them? Al.
Traincliff
They were affectionately known by us locospotters 60 years or so ago as "blinkers".I don't think you will find them listed as such though lol.Cliff
Il Grifone
Beat me to it with thehorsey reference! :)Unusually full information on the Cornation Class here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LMS_Coronation_Class A favourite class - my first 00 locomotive was LMS 6231 'Duchess of Atholl', Xmas 1951 (less blinkers). BR(M) 46232 'Duchess of Montrose' came two years later (with blinkers). Several more have come since....
kenmc
Thank you all for replying. Heres a picture of the loco i was querying - makes me wonder now if, as ATOM3624 says it is an earlier LMS model which did not have the "Smoke deflectors". Can anyone confirm this or are they just missing?

96RAF
You picture will have to be approved and cleared by the site Admin team during office hours. Nothing Com Mods can do to hurry that along unfortunately.
Going Spare
If your model was made by Hornby rather than Hornby-Dublo or Wrenn, and is tender driven, it would have had smoke deflectors fitted when new. However, there were two types of deflector used, depending upon whether the loco's running plate is continuous (as per your original image) or is broken and does not have the upsweep above the bogie as shown in your image. In the latter case, the deflectors do not have the front 'leg' but, in glorious Hornby tradition, both types carry the same part numbers S9672 and S9673. Chrissaf
I would say they are missing, because the red circled hole is most likely the mounting hole into which the deflectors clip./media/tinymce_upload/e1bb46d654d3dc4ff0cb533d55fa7572.jpg
Going Spare
They are missing. The livery is BR maroon rather than LMS crimson lake. You need the deflectors with the front 'leg'. Search for S9672L and S9673L if you try to source a pair. Peters Spares, for example, have S9673L but not the other.
The son of Triangman
Hornby City of Nottingham 46261 had the 1st type of Hornby deflector. The deflectors are most definately missing. Peter's spares makes some nice replicas
