Western Master startup [RailMaster Q]

The LDM40 [Loco Detection Module] does not exist, thus you will not be able to open any ports on what is non existent hardware.

The LDM40 was a planned piece of DCC [uSB connected] hardware that was intended to act as a concentrator [receiver] module for track based loco detection position feedback detectors. The whole 'Loco Detection' product range, including the LDM40 module never made it past the development stage into full scale production, and as such, the LD features and functions built into RailMaster are non functional. Being USB connected, it would have been the LDM40 USB Com Port that the 'unable to open port' message relates to.

RailMaster software is developed by a 'third party software house' company on behalf of Hornby. HRMS [the RailMaster software developers] use their pre-launch [development] LDM units in-house in order to perform 'scale speed profiling'. HRMS, built in the support for LDM into RailMaster both for their own use to support the 'profiling', as well as the expectation that Hornby would launch the LDM product hardware to the market.

Even though, Hornby have shelved [permanently we believe] the launch of the 'Loco Detection' hardware products, HRMS have left the support for it within RailMaster lying dormant and currently unusable. It is also not supportable with any other non Hornby branded 'Loco Detection' hardware that might already be in the marketplace.

If you are getting this LDM40 error message appearing when you start up RailMaster, then ensure that "Not used" is selected in the 'Loco Detection' tab for both Receiver 1 and Receiver 2 [see image below - yellow highlight].

Additionally, check ALL your loco configurations and ensure that the 'Detection ID' fields are also blank [see image below - yellow highlight]

Which set is this?

Al, FYI.

It is the 'Western Master' digital set as the OP stated in the topic title [R1173]. The R1173 comes with eLink and RailMaster software as the control system.

Hence why I moved the post from the 'General Discussion' forum to this 'RailMaster' forum. Given that the queried LDM40 is part of RailMaster.
