Chrissaf Posted November 4, 2020 Share Posted November 4, 2020 @ FSI would guess you have a reverse loop in your layout that was latent until you fitted the clips which completed the full circuit. Previously the points had been acting as isolation switches. Post a picture of your track-plan and Chris will immediately point out the problems. @ AllThese point clips are designed to carry current across a single point. They are not meant to carry power from the main loop to power other loops or a range of sidings, etc. They are made of springy steel which is not as good a conductor as copper and that extra resistance is what makes them glow when passing high currents. As stated if wrongly used they can melt your points or worst case cause a fire. Properly used they are a simple and safe alternative to a power bus on a small layout.
