Brightstar
I do not know if it is only me,but next day deliveries from the shop do not happen. I placed an order on the 22nd June that should have been delivered on the 24th. I waited in all day, but no delivery.I have now waited in all day today, 27th June and still no delivery. That is two days wasted, hopping up every time the driveway alarm is triggered, my hobby room is upstairs and I cannot hear the door bell from there, so I have a wireless alarm to let me know if some on crosses the driveway.I must admit that this is a problem with most orders from suppliers who promise next day deliveries, but their couriers fail to meet their obligations. The problem seems to be getting worse. Out of 3 orders placed in the last three weeks none have made a 24 hour delivery, even though the parcels have been marked as such.Is anyone else suffering from this problem? walkingthedog
I've never ordered anything to be delivered next day, but I must say that a dealership near Arundel have a very good delivery system. Plenty of notification from them and their courier service. It must be very frustrating if you are expecting something and it doesn't arrive. bocaj
It depends what day you oredered it on. The 24th was on friday and Hornby Do not deliver on Saturdays or Sundays I think so it should have arrived by tommorow. The next day delivery only stands when you order it on a weekday (other than Friday) before a certen time.
Brightstar
I need to know which day a delivery will arrive so I can get on with my other commitments, which are frequently not at home. Some of the couriers have a tracking system, which will tell when the parcel is loaded on the van for delivery. So you wait in for the delivery and it never turns up, either because the driver runs out of time or he says he has attempted a delivery and left a card when he has done no such thing. This happended to me on the week before last.

Not only did it not come on Friday, but it has not come today either.

The son of Triangman
I had the family order the 1985 limited edition GWR 150th Holden tank loco as soon as it was announced, waited two years for Hornby to deliver to the family shop and Hornby then cancelled the order, wasn't impressed. Thankfully picked up a mint unrun example on EBay cheaply a few years ago.

Brightstar
Hi Bocaj,The last time it did not arrive on the third day, I had to get it redirected to my Mother's home as I was going there the following day and had a 220 mile journey. They also agreed to refund the carriage charge and I am still waiting for it.

the ferret
I find that the very best mail order service is from Hattons of Liverpool. They are absolutely faultless. You can often get a piece of older stock at a price reduced to clear and Hattons have NEVER let me down. Recently I ordered a four compartment Maunsell High Window Brake 3rd coach and after passing Debit Card details on the phone the coach was in my hands the very next day. However I now have a very good relationship with my local model shop and pay off instalments at a rate agreed between us. Thus I know when I will have paid in full and by then the item has been delivered to the shop who hold it for me until payment is completed. It all works for me. Gregd99
Guys, while this has been an entertaining discussion it is probably best to contact hornby customer care directly. apologies in advance if this was attempted and I missed it in teh thread. While it seems that the admin does read the posts - quite a job - it is better to contact customer care directly.Greg
Brightstar
Administrator said:Greg is correct - and I suggest contacting them by phone as we receive an unfathomable number of emails along the lines of "what coaches ran with..." and "how many of this locomotive were ever produced?" and "can you send me a list of everything that ran between Margate and London".You don't want to have to wait for us to sort through a pile of those before getting to your enquiry! Thanks Admin,I will try that if it happens in the future. However, as I have to wait until after 18:00 hours on the day of expected delivery, it means I will have still waste a day and cannot telephone until the following morning.Once again thank you for your help. VESPA
I hope that there are quite a few of us on here who can help with general questions rather than Customer Services having to answer questions on railways and what ran where with what. Maybe the forum needs more publicity in product leaflets and publications as this may take off some of the pressure in customer services so that they can concentrate on actual HORNBY items and related issues of the product, such as repairs etc.

Postman Prat
Forget previous item, it's this whole thing making a fool out of me....I agree WTD, not difficult!!However, as I was about to say, ask the sender to use Royal Mail Special Delivery. As a delivery postman Special Delivery items are a pain in a part of the anatomy, but from your point of view it should be delivered by 1300 hrs the day after posting and this happens to a very high percentage (well over 90%) of items. This obviously depends on the supplier posting it on the day he says he has, (whatever you buy you have to rely on the truth from the sender)Hope this helps
Postman Prat
Hi AdminI see your super sensitive censoring filtering still works. My reference to a pain in the neck, deliberately coded to be possibly mistaken for a pain elsewhere, was 'picked up' and referred. No chance of me using the name on 60501!!!
