StephenE
Can the Hornby R8247 Accessory Controller be used to control the R070 Turntable? If it can how does one go about setting it up to do so, I only have a Select controller unit. Please advise asap.RegardsStephen
Blackbird
The accessory decoder isn't suitable for use to control the R070 turntable. A basic loco decoder, hornby or other make can be used. The turntable motor is controlled by the same means as a loco motor, speed and direction, and is set up in the same way; address, direction and acceleration/decceleration CV functions. A loco decoder is very much cheaper than an accessory decoder, and is installed directly to the T/T motor, Orange & Grey to the motor, Red and Black connections to either the DCC track, directly to the DCC controller or busmain if fitted. However the T/T could be controlled directly and independantly from a basic 12v controller (possibly redundant or very cheap S/H)

Fishmanoz
Hi Stephen, I trust you are aware that powering the rotation of the bridge on the turntable isn't the only issue in operating the turntablw in DCC layouts. the major issue is the shorts that occur as the bridge rotates due to DCC power being present all the time, meaning the bridge left rail will short to all the outlet tracks' right rail as it goes past, and vice versa. There's heaps recently on the forums about this - do a forum search on turntable and turntable wiring help and you'll find everything. Also, the Brian Lambert site at http://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/DCC.htm#Turntables. covers it all well
