Hornby Select [dead no power]

I bet you haven't got a Multimeter. If you had one you could measure the voltage output of the Select power supply which should read 15 volts DC with centre pin positive.

In the absence of a Multimeter then a car 12 volt side light bulb connected across the power pack output connector would show if the power pack is working.

If the power pack is working, then the Select is likely faulty and either needs replacement if still under Warranty or repair if outside Warranty.

If repair / replacement is needed, contact Hornby Customer Services [number at bottom of page under 'Contact us'] to discuss.

In my view a Multimeter is an essential tool to have in the toolbox for any hobby involving electricity. Multimeters can be purchased cheaply on ebay for less than £8 delivered.

I take it that you have checked the fuse in the 3 Pin Mains Plug (assuming UK).
