If your loco is DCC-Ready, in the tender as per Service Sheet 416 or in the loco as per sheet 260D, dependant upon which loco you have. The maintenance sheet that came with the loco may be of help. Service sheets can be downloaded via the Support and Advice dropdown menu, Product Support.

You really should quote R stock code numbers with these type of enquiries, else there is a risk that you will be given incorrect information in good faith.

It really depends upon which [year of manufacture] King Class you are referring to as you haven't given a R stock code number.

If you mean the ones currently showing in the Hornby website shop, then see the image below for one of them selected at random.

The bottom left blue box shows this model to be a King Class. The other blue box shows a bundle of four black wires going between the loco and tender. These wires indicate that the motor is in the loco, but the decoder goes in the Tender. The Tender may possibly also have a speaker mounting within, that can be used with a TTS decoder.
