Hornby select, decoder compatibility

Hi there, I have a Select controller and I would like to buy a new loco. The new loco has a Plux22 decoder. Can anyone foresee any problems.

It would be easier to offer a possible answer if you were to state the firmware revision of your Select controller. Watch the Select screen as you connect power to the Select to boot it up. Three sequential numbers will very briefly appear on the screen. XX followed by 30 followed by 03. The XX numbers are the firmware revision number and should be a number between 10 & 20. Firmwares 15 to 20 are more likely to have a higher decoder compatibility factor than firmware revisions below 15.

If your firmware is below 15, then you stand a better chance of compatibility if you get Hornby to upgrade the firmware [typically £15 plus your postage costs]. To get firmware upgraded you need a 'returns number' from Hornby Customer Services.
