Maltese Mike
I've just bought a R3740 Class 92 loco. It has come DCC ready. I tested it on an Anologue track and it's performed well and the directional lights worked as they should. I've now fitted a R8249 hornby decoder, the loco runs ok but the lights no longer work. Any ideas please?
Rog RJ
Have you switched the lights on? They don't come on automatically with DCC. Apologies if you already know this.
Smudge617
Depending on your controller 0 or 1 will be the On/Off switch for the lights. If they still don't work check the installation of the decoder, if you've installed it the wrong way round the lights won't work.
Chrissaf
The Decoder CV29 typically also has to be 128 Speed Step enabled for directional lights to work. CV29 with a value of 6 will be a compatible 128 speed step value OR 2 if you want 128 speed steps with DC Operation disabled. Some R8249's have been reported to have CV29 with a zero value. Zero in CV29 will typically prevent directional lights working.
Maltese Mike
Thanks everybody for your advise. As the lights were working automatically on DC I made the schoolboy error of assuming that they would work automatically on DCC. Rog, no need to apologise, I didn't know I had to switch them on 🤔. Thanks again, you've all given me tips which may help with future projects 👍👍
