Starting RailMaster gives response unrecognised databas....Railmaster\resource.mdb

Recommended Posts

Every time you close RailMaster down it automatically creates a backup copy of key files, resource.mdb is one of the files that are backed up.

Follow these instructions and you should be able to recover the situation.

Do not have RM running (granted you say it is not able to run, but don't try to run it whilst following this guidance).

Navigate to the Windows Program(x86) Railmaster folder using Windows File Explorer.

Find the resource.mdb file and rename it as resource.old

Now find the backup file version resource.bak and rename it as resource.mdb

If you are lucky RailMaster will be fixed and will start at next attempt.

The corrupted resource.old version can now be deleted. A new .bak version will be created automatically the next time you close down RM.

To modify file names in the folder you will need Administrator authority. You should be able to modify names, but if for any reason Windows blocks this action then try starting Windows in 'Safe Mode' first.

If after following this guidance you still get the same error message, then your .bak file has the same corruption. You would then need to delete all resource.mdb and resource.bak files from the folder and then run the RM installer to generate a new resource.mdb file. This is the nuclear option as you would then have re-enter all the locomotives previouly configured in your RM locomotive roster, so should only be considered as the very last resort.
