Rousey83 Posted October 5, 2021 Share Posted October 5, 2021 Hello everyone.Very new to DCC , I was wondering if there is a TTS decoder I could use for the Hornby Avanti Pendolino.I'm using a Hornby Select controller not sure if that matters.Just something I can get a basic sound from.cheers. Chrissaf Posted October 5, 2021 Share Posted October 5, 2021 To get the best experience for sound using the Select controller you need version 1.5 firmware at the very minimum. Version 1.6 or 2.0 is preferred.When you power up the Select the installed firmware version appears briefly on screen as the very first number to display between 10 (1.0) and 20 (2.0).If you get a number below 15 then I strongly advise that you contact Hornby customer services to obtain an upgrade returns number. The upgrade charge has typically been in the past £15.Version 1.5 gives you the ability to send Function commands up to F28, without this enhanced functionality you will not be able to access all the sounds on a sound decoder. Going Spare Posted October 5, 2021 Share Posted October 5, 2021 Unfortunately, Hornby do not offer a TTS decoder suitable for either an electric locomotive or a multiple unit; all sounds are for steam or diesel locomotives.Others may be able to advise upon suitable decoders from other manufacturers.
