Going Spare
The sheet is No. 447, downloadable via the Useful Links sticky post at the top of the General Discussion section.
Howbi
If you are looking to open it up to fit a decoder then you will find the answer on the instruction sheet that comes with the loco.
Chrissaf
R3853 is a 48DS loco plus flatbed wagon. There are loads of threads and posts on this forum with regard which direct fit 6 pin decoders are suitable for this model, not all are apparantly. ColinB
I don't have one of these so I can only guess. In the Terrier I used a Zimo MX616 which is really small, but if it is like the Rocket where the decoder wraps above the socket then a 6 pin leaded Zimo MX617 will probably do. These decoders have a maximum current of 0.8 amps compared to 0.5 amps for a Hornby equivalent, so if they are like most Hornby 0-4-0 locos, are better suited. Chrissaf
The 48DS is nothing like a normal 0-4-0. It will not accept any form of harness decoder, it has to be a direct fit one due to the tiny small design. Granted the Rocket was similarly sized, but the Rocket had a harness suitable design due to the barrel. The 48DS recess where the direct fit 6 pin decoder is inerted is very tight and it has been commented on this forum that some direct fit 6 pin decoders are bigger than others and will not fit in the space provided. ColinB
I did say I didn't have one, so in that case pay the money and use the Zimo MX616. If that doesn't fit, I doubt anyone will.
