The son of Triangman
Been a busy few days, more updating of the old Bulb colour light signals for the layout. The conversion has proved very easy to do with just the use of a screwdriver, 5mm round file to remove the old thread and a pcb.The Xmas fun layout for next year will have Home, Distant and the rare 2 aspect Caution signals. Chrissaf
I take it you have wired both LEDs in parallel to light up for the purpose of the photos. If not, then there appears to be significant light bleed.
The son of Triangman
The light bleed is in fact down to 5000 mcd led's and the camera. They match Hornby's current LED's in intensity. Yes they are indeed in parallel, I wanted to show both aspects lit, of course in real life they wouldn't be unless under real life testing for some reason. The son of Triangman
Taking the old bulbs out using a paper straw, the paper straw is made from recycled paper and once the end gets too loose I just cut the worn bit off and it's ready to use again. The cut off bit of straw goes in the recycling.
96RAF
What is the purpose of the stub on the baseplate, as I found mine is a trip hazard for rolling stock so I have cut them all off.
Ruffnut Thorston
Hi Rob.The stub on the metal baseplate is designed to fit onto a plastic “Clip Fit” tab that attaches the signal to the track. wink
96RAF
Thanks Ruffnut.I had ‘filed’ those clips away and forgotten about them. My signals will be nailed down in a suitable place near the track.
