MARU5137
Hello everyone. So I see Airfix has gotten a new 1:24 Scale Spitfire out.MY question is this:How many 1:32 Scale Spitfires and different variants of that aircraft have Airfix produced and in what chronological order...I know they are mostly attuned to producing 1:48 and 1:72 scale but not so much 1:32 scale. They do so well with 1:48 scale which I have bought from them; and suddenly , to large scale modellers they have given them 1:24 Spitfire. But how many 1:32 Scale Spitfire kit models did they produced and in which order.. i.e. which was first and so on. Thank You in advance.Any one the information I'd be happy to know.Thank you. Ratch
Airfix have never made ANY 1/32 aircraft kits. The first 1/24 was issued in 1971 IIRC, so not exactly suddenly.
T2B
Marus you might be getting confused with Revell who have done several 1:32nd Scale aircraft and use it as their large scale. Other companies have used that scale too! As far as I'm aware Airfix are the only model company to do aircraft in the large scale of 1:24th, and as Ratch says they have done several since the first Spitfire Mk.Ia in 1971
Hurricane Boy
May be being confused with the 1/32 Matchbox Sptifire Mk 22/24 kit?or the many Hasegawa and Tamiya kits? Certainly not Airfix…1/72nd, 1/48th & 1/24th are quite enough!Tim
