Brew Man Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Does anyone use these? I'm thinking of getting one to use as a fan-out to three sidings but am wondering whether they are prone to problems such as derailments. Thanks for your thoughts.
Chrissaf Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Previous posts regarding these points have been raised before. As far as I can recall, the posts related to how to configure the point motor operation to select the required route. I cannot recall any posts relating to derailments.
Brew Man Posted January 22, 2022 Author Posted January 22, 2022 Yes, I can see the motor configuration could make for a bit of fun. Reassuring that you can't remember any derailment issues. There's also shorting problems that I occasionally get with certain locos crossing my Electrofrog points.
Chrissaf Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Re Electrofrog points. Have a review of my long reply post on this forum page.https://uk.hornby.com/community/forum/best-points-to-use-for-dcc-layout?ccm_paging_p=2I can't see any technical reason why the full frog switching modification can't be used on DC Analogue as well as DCC.
Brew Man Posted January 22, 2022 Author Posted January 22, 2022 Thanks, Chris, I did skim read that when you posted it but will give it closer attention.
Bulleidboy Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Call me pedantic, but you need a 3-way point for three sidings - a Y point would only give you two sidings. I'll now go and hidesmiley. I have two 3-way points in my fiddle yard, albeit Code 75 and they work well, I have had no derailments.
Brew Man Posted January 23, 2022 Author Posted January 23, 2022 @BBSorry, I did use the letter, 'Y' but did include, '3 way'. It is still shaped like a , 'Y', though I see, 'Y' is not included in the official product description. Glad you find they work well, I've ordered one.
96RAF Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Ψ point - Greek PSI which doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.
Brew Man Posted January 23, 2022 Author Posted January 23, 2022 Ψ pointYou devil, Rob joy Mod note - more akin to Poseidon and his trident being Greek. Rob.
