dugdug03
Afternoon, I have the Hornby P9000 power supply which i use to power my toggle switch panel, however i need to extend the lead as the plug socket is too far away from my toggle switch board.Does anyone have any idea which extension cable i need? Most the cables i can find are only 12v DC when i believe this power source is 19v AC? Going Spare
If you would be happy about its safety, the easiest solution might be to use an extension lead between the mains wall socket and the transformer plug as Hornby do not offer any longer leads to extend the cable on the output side of the transformer. Chrissaf
It really doesn't matter if the supply is 12 volts DC or 19 volts AC. It is the current which is the deciding factor when it comes to choosing cables. The P9000 power supply is current rated @ 500mA which is insignificant in the scheme of things. The connector on the output of the P9000 is almost certainly a 5.5/2.1mm industry standard DC power connector. Thus you just need any general purpose 5.5/2.1mm inline socket to 5.5/2.1mm plug extension lead and not be concerned whether the listing says DC or AC. The reference to DC is just probably because there are far more DC power supplies than AC ones, plus of course the barrel connectors are always marketed in product listings as DC Connectors, which is just the industry standard terminology used to describe them. Howbi
Surely you only need a 1 gang 2 metre mains extension lead.
