JJ73
HiyaThis is what my "JJ's Test Track" used to look like...& now I've added a few extra Strip-lighting to make it look brighter.….What do you think??? Here is my 'How to' video to show you how I put it together... Thank you 🙂🚂🚂🚂
JJ73
Thank you DRC - I didn't know that Chris had a Test track aswell!!! 🤔🚂🚂🚂
Chrissaf
I believe a bit of "Chinese Whispers" happening here. I posted an image of a custom 'DCC programming track piece', not a test track.
JJ73
Lol 😀 Looks like it Chris - well at least you have now set the record (or should that be Track??? 🤔) straight 😉🚂🚂🚂
Bulleidboy
You cannot beat a proper programming track - ballasted and bufferedsmile
RDS
JJ,Do you think it would be possible please, for you to stop putting all of those ridiculous little icons on every one of your posts.I for one would be able to take you far more seriously if you did.You have made some very valuable comments on this forum, don't spoil them.Thank you. Stubaggieboy
Thank you RDS, I totally agree. I can see the point of a programming track for DCC but why have a test track for DC? Saying that I have a test track, it’s called my layout.
SteveM6
Thank you RDS, I totally agree. I can see the point of a programming track for DCC but why have a test track for DC? Saying that I have a test track, it’s called my layout.  Its not so daft - a simple oval on a bit of ply for running in new locos on DC (as recommended).Once run in, tested and working properly then fit the decoder and move it to the main layout, before putting the test track away in the shed or garage. Bulleidboy
I use a Hornby Rolling Road - loco out of the box on to the rolling road and one hour in each direction with occasional adjustments for speed.
RDS
@StubaggieboyWith respect, you may have misunderstood my post to JJ. I am not concerned that JJ has a test track for his DC system. I just do not want to have to read post after post, that are filled with meaningless icons, repeated punctuation marks, or a mixture of both.We are keen for the Hornby Forum to be seen and accepted as a Forum where both serious modellers and newcomers to the hobby, can ask questions, obtain answers and read other members posts, without being faced with a barrage of unnecessary rubbish.I am sure that there are plenty of websites where that type of thing is appropriate. This Forum is not one them.
JJ73
@RDS :- It is just my way of signing off when I use "🙂🚂🚂🚂" Also it is me just being me - sorry but I can't change that - that's who I am!!! After all - they are there just for a bit of fun!!! May be I'll meet you 1/2 way by not using them so often...but life is not always about being serious - you got to have fun along the way other wise life will be boring!!!@ any body else who it reading this :- Interesting point - Yes I have D. C. but my "JJ's Test Track" didn't mean to be a test track in the 1st place - when originally, I put it up as a display shelf, just to display my Locos & rolling stock & only by accident - did it turn from a display shelf to a test track - How??? You know if your traveling in car @ 30 mph & suddenly stop & then you will travel 'X' amount of metres b4 you stop - but you don't stop straight away - Well a few yrs ago I notice that it is the same for some of my Locos - some stop straight away - others stop a few cms b4 they come to a halt - yes I know about the 'Flywheel' in some Locos - so I did an experiment (back in July 2019) to see which Locos travelled the furthest & which stopped straight away - see my video :- . This video will explain things better!!! Anyway from then on, it started to become my "JJ's Test Track" - every time I do a review - I test it on my test track forwards & backwards - just to see how well it works!!! Brand new or 2nd hand Locos!!!

Stubaggieboy
RDS.No I didn’t misinterpret your comment it was my bad grammar that caused the confusion. Those icons get on my nerves also. Then I went on to comment about test tracks.
