Tony57 Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Does anyone what the contents of the re release of R619 track planning pieces is?I have the original set which is mainly based around Radius 1 and 2 curves. and half a circle of Radius 3 curves but no 4th radius curves. If Hornby are going to release such a useful tool again it should contain all the track pieces Hornby sell even If it means buying two sets to make a complete circle of Radius 3 and 4.
Chrissaf Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Tony, I've been waiting for someone to reply, but so far no comments left.I can find no product reference to the R619 or reference to it being re-released on the Hornby website. You say it is being re-released.Is this fact, or just your hopeful wish?If it is believed to be fact, could you indicate your source for this information, preferably with a link to it.Given the lack of response so far, it would seem that nobody else knew of this alleged re-release either.
Going Spare Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 It is on catalogue page 190 'New Q3' and on the website under Track Pieces 'Autumn 2022'.
Chrissaf Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Thank you G.SI don't buy the Catalogue and despite searching the 2022 releases section of this website I still cannot find any listing for "Track Pieces Autumn 2022". I'm using an Android tablet, so maybe it is not as obviously listed as a PC website. A direct link to the page would be very helpful.
Going Spare Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Can you use the green search symbol for R619.I don't know how to create links. As it is not 'new' it may not be included in the 2022 New listings.
Tony57 Posted February 5, 2022 Author Posted February 5, 2022 Hi ChrissafThis site, in the shop Track pieces page 2 2 thirds down the page.
Chrissaf Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Can you use the green search symbol for R619. That was the very first thing I did and got no hits.
Chrissaf Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Thank you Tony,Your navigation description has let me manually find the page the "search" couldn't find. I will report your missing information request to Hornby, to have the page updated with more 'in depth' content information. But I can't promise that Hornby will respond to the request nor in what timescale. Can but try.Chris
96RAF Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 I found the green search gave me a hit which linked to this product page - 100 pieces it says in product info.A second attempt missed it but a third search found it again.
Tony57 Posted February 5, 2022 Author Posted February 5, 2022 The set I have contains the following piecesR600 x 9, R601 x15, R610 x 9R 604 x 6, R605 x 9, R606 x7, R607 x 7, R608 x 3, R609 x 3, R628 x 3, R643 x 8.R612 x 4, R613 x 4, R614 x 1, R615 x 1, R632 x 1, R641 x 2, R642 x 2, R623 x 2, R622 x 2R464 x 2, R460 x 4 ( Platform ramp and straight platform section)Looking at the picture of set advertised it looks the same as to what I have got.I could not understand why there are odd numbers of elements when it requires even numbers of track pieces.A couple of questions for HornbyHave Hornby changed the element numbers to reflect what is in the shop?Have Hornby added the missing elements like Radius 4 double and single curves, turntable isolating Track?

jivebunny1707822360 Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 I love how they've just gone into the archives and recycled the photo they used in the early 90s catalogues :D
DarkRedCape Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 I looked into this before I decided to invest in AnyRail. It would have been nice to have real pieces to test, but the limited number of points ultimately put me off.Looking at this link, I’d wonder what parts they would even add, if any at all. They have re-released products under the same R number before.https://thumbs.worthpoint.com/zoom/images1/360/0212/18/hornby-r619-quarter-sacle-track_360_3bdd4186c03b2ca98a3061c82bdd3ee2.jpgAnd yes, them using the picture from decades ago is pretty comical.

DarkRedCape Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 It was just the contents of the old R619 pack. It didn’t give an answer to what Tony57 was asking but I thought I’d show what was in the old pack.Does anyone know why this is being re-released? Was it discontinued?
Rana Temporia Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 If there aren’t enough points you could always go retro and get the 1/12 scale stencil that came with 1” graph paper blushI can’t remember what track components were on it. Presumably not the express and Y points. I have one somewhere if I find it I’ll have a look.
Tony57 Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 Hi RanaAre you talking about the R639 Track Planning stencilIf you are It covers 1st 2nd and Third radius curves single and doubleR 600 and 601 straightsR613 and R612 and R615 diamond crossingCurved points R640 and R641And the 7 Road Turntable R410It also has a scale rule on 1 edge
Rana Temporia Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Tony57, that’s the one. I thought mine was with my catalogues and track plan books but I can’t find it. It’s still in the red cardboard sleeve with some graph paper so should be easy to see, unfortunately it must be in the attic. I spent hours with it when I got it, not the most accurate planning tool though! Back then I didn’t have access to CAD or any of the other computer based planning options we have now.
Tony57 Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 Hi RanaNon of us had access to the computer systems we have to day. When you think about it when the stencil and track planning pieces first came out computers were very expensive with very little memory and had very basic programsMy first computer was an Amstrad 1640 with matching dot matrix printer and 7" floppy disks. The first windows operating system only came out 30 years ago, now your smart phone has more memory and computing power then the first computers. The stencil and track planning pieces were the best at the time and in some ways better are than today's programs
