Hi everyone, wondered if someone might be able to give me some advice - my father was a test pilot in the RAF and sadly passed away in a aeroplane crash many years ago. He was an avid collector of models and I have a collection of 166 model kits, many of which are unopened - these date back to 1960's I believe (definitely pre 1968 as this was when he passed). I have copied a small number below (hope that is ok) and wondered if anyone could tell me how I can know more about the models, value, etc - many thanks, Warren

It's very difficult to put a value on any item as at any given time it might be worth more or less. Bagged kits tend to attract premium prices amongst the collecting fraternity, although builders might be prepared to push the boat out on an early issue due to the potential better quality of the mouldings. You could do worse than conduct eBay searches on individual items, but ignore the higher prices as they're usually put up by speculators, not realists.

Best do a bit of homework. Some kits fetch good prices. There are people who buy up collections for re-sale but you might not get the best prices from them. It is however a simple option. It will be very time consuming to sell them one by one on a site such as ebay but you would probably end up getting more for them. You have to watch out. Some kits get silly prices. Rare ones are

Southern Cross liner,

Free Enterprise

Original Spitfire BTK - not the re- release

Tractor

Boy Scout

Joan of Arc

The Series 1 and 2 kits in plastic bags also get good prices.

There are a number of others ..... if you search for Airfix Collector sites you'd get a good idea of which ones, if any, are worth a bit.
