81F
I am trying to represent a Royal Train of the late 1970s/early 1980s. To this end I have the Hornby Queen's and Duke of Edinburgh's Mk3 coaches, the Mk2 brake and am repainting a Hornby Mk1 sleeping car. However, can someone advise me of a suitable locomotive (names and numbers if possible and any livery peculiarities other than probably spotless!).I do have two Lima Class 33's with white roofs (Burma Star and Lord Mountbatten of Burma) but not sure if they are entirely appropriate. Thanks for any help

Tony57
Hi 81FIf I remember correctly the southern region painted the loco cab roofs white when on Royal train duties, so both of your named locos could be allocated to Royal Train DutiesI remember an article in the Hornby magazine where they painted a schools loco for royal train duties including the white cab roof.
