VESPA
I am awaiting the delivery of R3070 TORNADO.Have any of you got this model yet and if so what are your opinions of it? I was a bit miffed as to why the windows were not fitted by Hornby as I am sure that this would have only added pence to the loco in production. Has anyone yet fitted their own? I will post my feelings when it arrives this week.
Andy84
I was going to buy this for my old man, but he found out and said he would prefer the R3059 version in its new livery with the rake of 3 coaches. Mainly because its the livery he remembers when he was growing up, the BR brunswick green. At this rate I will have to consider knocking down a wall and expanding the layout for all the new engines he is looking at, though I would enjoy that because for me half the fun was building the layout for him. VESPA
I have just reviewed R3070 on this site and apparently it does have glazing. Magazine reviews say it hasn't. Any ideas which is correct??

bocaj
Hi Vespa,My Tornado came yesterday and it is quite good.Evan though it says special edition when I toock of the outer box I found the box said railroad model, but when I opened it the only thing that maybe sugested it was a railroad model was that the buffers were not sprung and two of the vents on the cab roof were pernimently open and the big one in the midle were pernimently closed. The only extra details that it came with it are the two metal Tornado Nameplates to put over the sticker ones to make it more detailed. The tender water controll handels are painted and their are the correct stickers on the tender but the cab detail is not painted but their is alot of it and it could easly be painted. It is a good model overall. Also, just a warning to everyone, if you want this model, get it quickly as their are only about 900 models of it left and they are going quickly!Hope this Helps,Jacob

trainlover23
As far as I can tell R3070 does NOT have glazing fitted. There is extra lining on the loco footplate over the earlier Railroad release.
walkingthedog
Hi JacobDoes your Tornado have any glazing?
bocaj
If you mean Glass in the windows no it does not. When I got the model in the post and opend it had the double packaging where it has two shots of the locomotive and the History on the back. It also had a special edition bit on the box with how many models of it were made. But when I pushed the usual box it had railroad on the side of the box. I don't think it is a railroad model though

Bulleidboy
Mine arrived today, not bad, ordered pm on the 7th July arrived on the 9th (would this be down to you PP??). Yes it's a very nice model, but as one or two have commented, you would have thought on a limited edition (mines 1040 out of 1200)it would have had glazing (windows Jacob) and sprung buffers. I have taken it out of the box but have not found the nameplates, but I'm sure they will be available elsewhere? All in all a nice model at a very good price.bocaj said:That's good Vespa, I am pleased with mine too!
