I have just completed a few of the 01705 1/76 WW2 German Infantry using the following paints:

Humbrol Acrylic 61 Matt Flesh = face and hands

Vallejo Model Color 70830 102 German Fieldgrey WWII = trousers, jacket

Vallejo Model Color 70920 85 German Uniform = jacket

Vallejo Model Color 70896 99 German Camouflage Extra Dark Green = (1936) collar, shoulder straps

Revell Aqua 36302 Black Silk Matt = boots, belt, straps

Games Workshop 61-76 Flesh Wash = face and hands 

Humbrol Acrylic 91 Matt Black Green = steel helmet, gas mask cannister

Vallejo Panzer Aces 310 Old Wood = Stielgranate 24 stick grenade handle, tool handles

Vallejo Model Color 70871 147 Leather Brown = Field flask

Vallejo Model Color 70914 119 Green Ochre = bread bag

Humbrol Acrylic 11 Metallic Silver Fox = cap to field flask 

Vallejo Model Color 70984 140 Flat Brown = Mauser 98K stock, MG.34 stock

Vallejo Model Color 70863 179 Gunmetal Grey = Mauser 98K fittings, 9mm MP.40 (Schmeisser) submachinegun, MG.34 fittings, Stielgranate 24 stick grenade head

Humbrol Acrylic 239 Gloss British Racing Green = base

They are based on Army Uniforms of World War 2 ISBN 0 7137 0611 2 Illustration 25, Lance-corporal 10th Panzer Grenadier Regiment, France, 1940.

The first few were airbrushed with Vallejo 27651 Polyurethane Matt Varnish

These others were brushed with diluted Vallejo Game Wash Dipping Formula 73300 Sepia Shade before being sprayed with Matt Varnish.

Hi Rod, from the top:

German Infantryman (1939) with variations of the standard 1936 pattern uniform.


Flamethrowers wore a protective suit made of rubberised material, worn over the standard uniform. (1944)


Panzergrenadiers (1944) the camouflage jacket was reversible to white.
