Hi Everyone, Sorry for bringing back a lon gone thread but I thought I'd do an Update on Tornado. I managed to finaly get some Pritt Stick glue today and stick the nameplates on Tornado. They were playing Hide and seek again though! I opended the
Box to get them out but they were not their, so I went looking for them. When I came back I still had not found them but it turned out that they had fallen out of the box and onto the floor and my Dog was gurding them! At least he did not eat them!
The idea of providing DIY etched nameplates is odd, nice, but odd. Years ago Hornby offered extra stick on or transfer name and numbers for certain models and I wonder if they might not consider re-visiting this idea. It might encourage people to buy more
than one model in a given catalogue period, without the expense of turning out three or four differently named locomotives in the same period. I have one of the older Winston Churchill Battle of Britain locomotives replated 21C155 Fighter Pilot, and another
re-named 21C170 Manston using these. They look fine. The numbers are printed on a panel of body colour so you do not need to remove the original number (a trick also used by Modelmaster in their Gold packs) OK the purist collector who dare not even open the
box for fear of taking pounds off the value of the model would not like it, but those of us who like to play with their toy trains could increase their stock without fear of duplication.
Hi LC&DR, It would be good for Hornby to do transfers. It might encurage people to do things like this on their models instead of tacking them to model shops to get them done.
Tri-ang used to do alternate names and numbers for some locos Jacob way back in the early 1970's. You fitted what name and number you wanted from the ones supplied.
Yes, I remember them. Had some that came with a B17 I think. They were about 4' scale inches thick and not quite the same colour as the loco. If you want to change numbers they do say you can remove the old ones with a glass fibre pencil and replace them
Hi Pollis, If they do start to include transfers in Models it would be god if they include instructions on how to remove the old numbers and names like you have said.

It would be good if Hornby would do them now if Tri-ang did them in the 1970's, People could do more modeling at home if they did them now.
