Topcat2018
I've just received an email from Hattons offering an LNER A2/A3 "Edward Thompson" R3832 for £119 plus postage. It doesn't appear to be in the current range, but it sounds a bargain for that type of loco. Does anyone know more about this model?Anyway I've ordered one as it's good to find an affordable LNER Pacific that isn't Flying Scotsman.
dBerriff
I ordered a Princess (Victoria!).There is plenty of information online about the Thompson A2/3 and reviews of the model on YouTube (Sam, Hornby Magazine). At that price I consider the Thompson good value.https://www.lner.info/locos/A/a2_3.php

The Doc
I bought A2 Chamossaire from Kernow a couple of weeks back - an excellent model that runs smoothly and quietly, and the lining is impressive. Thoroughly recommended.
ColinB
I bought Edward Thompson when it first came out, I think it was well over £150. It was just after Hattons got pushed off the preoder list by Hornby as I lost my order for Sun Castle. So yes when I saw the email from Hattons I realised that was a good price for a good loco, sadly for me the Sun Castle ones had sold out.

Anglia998
I quote from catalogue No. 66 (2020) "The first A2/3 was completed in May 1946, just a month before Thompson's retirement and was the 2000th locomotiveto be built at Doncaster. Hornby produced the A2/3 511 Airborne in 2021.

Topcat2018
"Edward Thompson" arrived yesterday and so far I am very pleased with it. It runs smoothly and the current consumption seems remarkably low. So far I haven't tested its pulling capabilities. The detailing is good but the amount of delicate details is frightening for someone whose collection consists mainly of older, more robust British-made locos. dBerriff
LMS 6205 Princess Victoria arrived today from the same batch of bargains. Absolutely stunning model.
atom3624
Great news - lovely locomotive, but be careful how you handle her - valvegear can be fragile!Same can be said for many locomotives these days, so nothing exceptional, just typical of modern model locomotives.Al.
