Asar5971
I'm looking to model the Royal Train as it was composed in the late 1950's to the end of the 1960's, Any information and/or photo's would be gratefully received
Going Spare
A quick internet search brought statements on Wikipedia: "Dedicated locomotives have never traditionally been part of the Royal Train...." (until the 1990s), and "After the formation of British Railways in 1948, the individual regions continued to maintain the constituent railway companies' Royal Train carriages......" (until 1977).So during your chosen timespan, the composition of the Royal Train - locomotive and carriages - would depend upon where it was being operated, and, to some extent, who was travelling. Peter Stiles
This month's Hornby Magazine has two articles on the Royal Train, both on the coaches/ locos you can buy and the make-ups that preceded them.
