Dean-356208 Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 A great kit from Airfix and required virtually zero filler. Although if you're building this kit be aware that you will want to smooth the plastic surface prior to painting as I didn't and it's visible in some light. Otherwise I'm very happy with how it turned out. Enjoy the photos. I might have to spread them across a few posts as there are quite a few.
Dean-356208 Posted May 15, 2023 Author Posted May 15, 2023 I spent about 6 months building this and it needed almost no filler at all. The tolerances are very tight though so I painted the engine after I had completed it fully including the wiring. It went together pretty easily though I was surprised due to complexity of the kit. The whole model is just great to be honest. I should have smoothed the surface of the plastic before painting though as the grainy texture is visible in the paint. I have polished the life out of the painted surfaces with Tamiya polishing compound from coarse to finish and it almost became an obsession lol. The surface literally squeaks when buffed now. A Zero would be a good opposite number for this in 1/24 I would say. I'm glad it's finished as it was a real long term project but I'm glad I tackled it and other than time consuming it really wasn't a difficult build. I had to post photos separately as I was having trouble getting lots in one go so if anyone wants to see more just ask and I'll post more but I think I got al angles here.
