Now then, I hope people know that I’m 100% behind Hornby & this new scale, to the point that I’ve bought/ordered all locos & rolling stock that’s currently available & started a YouTube channel with only positive content.

But….

I’ve opened the 08, and was astonished at how much space wasn’t being used.

And that’s just the main body! don’t get me started on the utter waste of time detailing and separating the cab area, I mean really, what’s the point?

You can only see a tiny part of the work in the cab and you really need to pick it up to do that!

With todays CAD software and without the pointless cab detail surely it really shouldn’t be so hard to get the 8 pin HM7000 chip in.

Sorry… I know this is an utter waste of time and it probably won’t make any difference, I’m just getting it off my chest here “in house” rather than on Facebook

Peachy, there’s a simple way to continue to be positive here - delete title in Toto and insert “Space for Sound in the 08?”

Edit - better still Peachy

In a similar vein, on my MK1s, to accommodate the battery pack I had to remove a toilet wall. Well worth doing as the effect of an illuminated coach with no extra drag far outweighs a moulded wall that is invisible from the outside. The idea of using the space in the 08 for either sound or more usefully on a short loco likely to be wobbling across lots of points, a stay alive sounds more appealing than an impossible to see interior. It’s nice these things are inside, especially for collectors or people who like to peer inside. Did you know there is even a brake wheel inside the brake vans!

I agree Peachy. Was astonished just how much space is ‘free’ inside the 08. Can only assume that the design team were not talking to the HM7k team when it was being settled. That said it’s a sweet running little thing so far.
