A4 cab doors

I would ensure that both contact surfaces are clean.

In the past I have used either polystyrene cement or superglue - both work just fine.

Ensure the location is correct, with no interference with the tender when negotiating your curves, and that the angle and mounting is correct / straight, and then mount.

I used superglue and activator to get a reliable bond. Tried superglue on its own at first but it wasn't too successful then I tried it with activator and its been a good solid repair. Use a needle, pin or paper clip to apply the glue so you don't get too much on the joint.

Thanks guys much appreciated, I think the doors came off when I was trying to disconnect the wire from the tender before Hornby added that bar to keep the tender and loco together, really fiddly work even with the correct tool to pull it out

Unless it's an earlier modified 2-wire plug, be very careful removing those pesky 4-wire plugs - good reliable contact, but very fragile.

I like other gently lever each side little-by-little before using 'the removal tool', to actually avoid damaging the plug.
