DeeJayEye
I am a bit miffed with the lack of variation of sound files, existing and planned. Plenty of large steam and large diesel and the odd electric but no sign of bubble type dmu i.e. 121/122 or 150/151/152 etc. Anyone know if this hole is likely to be plugged? SteveM6
A list of the current and proposed sound files was posted just a few days ago on the ‘which locos have you fitted.......’ thread.Hornby have aid they want to release files for locos they don’t necessarily make but I guess they will focus on the ones they do first. DeeJayEye
I was aware of the list which I consulted before posing the question. I have at least 3 railcars in the 150 range all Hornby and 1 Dapol 121. The only nearest sound file I could meanwhile use would be the HST, but its hardly appropriate. Fishmanoz
Mods, could the title be changed to “Availability of Sound Files for DMUs” please.
96RAF
I am sure there are folk who are ‘a bit miffed’ about the lack of sound files for GWR locos as well, but the list is what it is and Hornby will work it in accordance with their own agenda. Britannia Builder
Can I put in a vote for a DMU sound profile too - I have a Hornby 3 car Class 101, currently running the Class 31 profile. This sounds OK - it's 60 years since I used to commute to school on Class 101s, so I can't really remember what they sound like - just remember the diesel fumes and the vibration!Regards, John
DeeJayEye
Perhaps that is where they are going wrong. They should "Give the customers what they want" rather than "Give the customers what you think they want".
96RAF
Perhaps that is where they are going wrong. They should "Give the customers what they want" rather than "Give the customers what you think they want". According to SK that is what they do - if enough punters want something. Hornby is hardly likely to disrupt their production plan and divert effort onto something because a handful of ‘miffed’ folk want one each. They are running a business not a charity. At present they are playing catch up with those profiles they already had in TTS (e.g Class 37 and 20 are missing for starters) along with adding TT120 variants, so adding every other old model they have ever done may not be top of their priority list for now. Then the other makes folk will want theirs done as well. Brew Man
Oooh, I'm pleased to hear Class 20 is on the list as I've recently acquired one thumbsup
SteveM6
I don’t believe the class 20 is on the ‘official’ to do list as yet. No doubt it will arrive eventually, but Hornby will not just transfer the TTS file to TXS, they will start with a new sound project as they have with all the other TXS profiles so far.Unless it gets fast tracked, I would not expect to see it until late next year at the earliest. Dingdong999
Back in good old TTS days I pleaded more than once for DMU files and never even got a response. Little short of commercial madness. One file would serve many early classes.I presume TTS will be dropped. Note that Class 43 will require two decoders which TTS supplied as a pair at nearly half the price.
