Bulleidboy
I have fitted the decoder and a speaker into a Hornby Class 08. The speaker sits at the front of the motor in the smallest speaker case - immediately behind the radiator when the body is on. The decoder went on top of the motor - I removed the fitted capacitor. I did not fit the Power Bank (stay alive), which I know some have fitted inside the cab. It's a tight fit in the loco, getting the wiring harness in the right position was the biggest headache, but it went in and sounds great.
Pendragon Sailing
To supplement Bulleidboy’s response, I’ve have fitted a TXS decoder into the Bachmann 08 too. The decoder locates immediately behind the radiator. The speaker and PB were put into the cab, although to do this I had to drill out a small slot to feed the wires and plugs through to the motor cavity. Its a tight fit, but it can be done. Good Luck
Brew Man
Yes, I've fitted decoder, speaker and PB into a Hornby R2417 Class 08. I positioned all three, as BB suggests - decoder on top of the motor, speaker just behind the radiator and PB in the cab. It all fits just comfortably. GMD
Just to double check, that you’re asking about the 00 gauge shunter, not the new TT120 scale one?
Bulleidboy
00 gauge Class 08.
