I notice that the HM7000 sound decoders all come with a speaker, attached to the decoder by a specitic connector. If a loco already has speakers factory-fitted to the chassis (such as the latest Hornby HSTs) will it use these speakers, connecting through the main decoder connector (e.g. 21-pin / Next-18), without needing to connect anything to the speaker connector on the decoder?

Yes it will via pads on the underside of its PCB.
