1/24 Airfix Hawker Typhoon Mk.1B 'Car Door' - N0.609 Squadron RAF Manston, Kent, England, April 1943

Here is one of Airfix's BIG kits, their re-issue of the Hawker Typhoon Mk.1B 'Car Door'. This was an Out-of-the-Box build although I had Montex's masks for the canopy and insignia, but didn't use the insignia masks... very much 😉. The kit looks great but it does need work to get there, there is a lot of part clean up that needs to be done as well as burring to be removed. But if you take your time (and you'll need to) everything goes together nicely.

 

I won't kid you, this kit killed my mojo but I got back into it and enjoyed the rest of the build, even despite some of the little challenges it gave me 😊.

What a superb model, well done.

I steer clear of this scale and 1/32 as I believe the visible detail demands quality finishing which is beyond me. You have certainly done it justice especially with the engine.

Very nice. My 1/24 scale Mk1B is awaiting build, I'm currently finishing off the 1/24 Ju87 B-2 Stuka.
