Joshua-348227
Hornby Tiger with new decoder. No sounds when loading profile onto 18 pin decoder, error message comes up. Tried reloading….same error…do I just keep trying to download the profile until it takes? Tips or solution welcome.
SteveM6
Make sure the decoder is fully located - there should be a ‘click’ as it goes in.As for tips, there are plenty in the threads at the top of the forum section.
ColinB
Admittedly it wasn't a Hornby loco, but on my Rails 812 with a Next 18 socket where the sound kept cutting out I had to clean the actual connector. Previously I tried pushing it in again as Rails suggested. I think I did it very carefully with a track rubber but it was a long time ago so I can't be sure what I used. It definitely fixed the issue.
96RAF
To cope with design loads N18 has several pins doubled up, so if one side is a tad flaky then the decoder may be running on 2-cylinders not 4.
