The Owl
Hi My Mallard is losing its speed and pulling power I have cleaned the wheels and lubricated as per instructions. Track is spotless. Does the tender add to the speed? I cleaned those wheels as well. Any suggestions?I have a Princess Royal Class loco R3711X which is significantly quicker. Thanks
96RAF
Has it had much use, as it could just be the motor growing old and wearing out. Do the tender wheels rotate freely, not causing undue drag, etc.
The Owl
Hasn't had a lot of use........tender wheels all rotate freely.......... cant figure what is causing this loss of speed......even my shunters go quicker! and they are older
96RAF
Unlikely to be a decoder setting as the old X suffix factory fitted decoders didn’t allow the likes of CV5 (V-max) to be adjusted. You could try a reset - write value 8 to CV8 to see if that makes any difference. That will however put the address back to 3.
ColinB
It could be the decoder, I was testing one of my locos with a Lenz Gold decoder and it went extremely slow, replaced with a TTS decoder and the difference was amazing. The Lenz was second hand and came with a broken loco so it could well be damaged.
