Bulleidboy Posted November 2, 2023 Share Posted November 2, 2023 I bought a box at a train show sometime ago, and although it was sturdy and well made, the loco with tender was a tight fit in the box - and it was the largest box available. There was very little room for sponge padding. I have bought a number of Hornby Merchant Navy boxes on ebay - I try to get the box where the interior will suit the different tender shapes - they have to be in mint condition. So actual Hornby/Bachmann boxes with interiors pre-formed for the specific loco type and labelled for the actual model by R-number are being sought?Then, retailers such as Peters Spares, A C Models and others who break locos for spare parts may be a potential source. One guy has been advertising the same set of boxes for over 3 years you would think he would get the message as with all the other parts he tries to sell. AC models seems to do his via EBay.
