Precision Poly Cement

I’m having trouble getting the needle applicator to work with my bottle of Precision Poly Cement.

Despite squeezing quite hard, I can only get a tiny amount to come out now and again.

I’ve resorted to using cocktail sticks.

Sometimes the glue dries in the needle applicator. When this happens I remove the needle, hold it in a pair of tweezers and run a flame form a cigarette lighter along the needle. Sometimes there is a little flare as the glue burns out. You should be very careful when doing this, of course. Having cleared the needle the glue will flow freely without having to squeeze the bottle.

It’s a brand new bottle, so I was wondering if I needed to do anything to get it started.

It's important to cover the needle again with the cover provided the minute you are through applying the glue. Never let it stand about uncovered or the problem will happen again and again.

PS: I don't mean cover it at the end of your modelling session .....I mean cover it each and everytime you apply the glue to a part.

I agree Sailorman. I do this with any adhesive I use.

The thing is, this is a brand new bottle and has never worked properly.

Take it back to were you bought it and ask them to exchange it.
