Swapping Enquiry

Hi All

Have just reread forum rules, specifically this,

“Any transaction involving sharing personal information is not allowed on the Forum. This includes 'buying & selling' and any content posted to facilitate personal gain.”

Am I correct in thinking that would preclude a thread on here where members swapped unwanted or excess items, free of charge, with one another?

Just thought it might be a better route than a certain well known auction site…

You are correct primarily because the sharing of personal information [which would be necessary for your, albeit no cost, transaction] is not permitted on this forum and is the pertinent point. R-

Or put another way. It is a consequence of the forum not having any 'Private Messaging' capability.

I believe other Model Rail forums with 'Private Messaging' have "swap" sections.

Once you have swaps. private messaging or otherwise, a problem arises about dispute resolution. Who should handle it? I'm sure that Hornby would not want to handle disputes and get embroiled in a legal quarmire.

Any form of ‘Trading’ has nightmare written all over it. No manufacturer wants that headache 😁
