Question if you have a loco with a four diget address will the select control it iven though it can’t write a four diget address itself

No, not whilst the 4 digit address is still configured in it.

You will have to readdress the loco decoder to a number between 01 and 59. These are the ONLY DCC Addresses the Select can use to either configure OR control a loco.

This addressing limitation is a rigid non negotiable requirement across ALL Select firmware revisions including the very latest current version 2.0 firmware.
