The Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II is a high-performance version of the 190E, specifically designed for homologation in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) racing series. Introduced in 1990, it featured a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine producing 235 hp, a significant power boost compared to earlier models. The Evo II is renowned for its aggressive aerodynamics, including a large adjustable rear wing and flared fenders.

Mercedes-Benz built only 502 units of the 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II out of a total of some 1.9 million saloon cars from the 201 model series. Homologation rules specified that a minimum of 500 vehicles of the respective model configuration must be delivered to customers.

The Mercedes 190E Evo II is often considered better than the BMW E30 M3 in specific areas due to its advanced aerodynamics, improved stability, and exclusivity. The Evo II's larger wing and aggressive body kit were designed to enhance downforce, making it highly effective in racing. Additionally, the 190E Evo II's engineering focused on durability and precision, offering a more refined experience compared to the raw, race-oriented E30 M3.
