Valhalla
Another one I started a good few years ago that I've now dusted off and ready to get going with. The others are still all coming along 🙂 This one got put away and forgotten about due to all the filling of the rivets with green squadron putty. Suffice to say I only managed one half as no patience all those years ago. It was only just recently I remembered about it due to another post on the forum. So, plenty of aftermarket products with this. Flightpath Detail and Weapons set, Heritage Aviation Cockpit Upgrade, Airbrake bay and Intakes. Not sure whether to use the Flightpath cockpit or the Heritage Aviation one yet, or a bit of both. I've made a start on the Flightpath cockpit so we'll see. The shell of the Pegasus engine has been put together And this is as far as I have got with filling the rivets and re-scribing (much more to do yet) Cheers Ian Edited September 12 by Valhalla
Ratch
That's a lot of AM there Ian. I picked up two cheap ones because they were already started. I completed one and have the other still in my stash.
Valhalla
I picked this lot up from ebay a good number of years ago along with the Heritage resin. I bought the Flightpath set myself. To be honest the resin isn't the greatest but some of it could be useful. A lot of work would be needed to make the intakes useful and the seatbelts are all just poorly moulded and falling apart. A lot of resin to remove and how to get a smooth surface. ( not that it needs to be perfect as there is a kit insert that covers the inside of the resin.) Valhalla
And here is the Heritage seat and airbrake bay. I think I'll use the Flightpath one as the seat looks too thin for a MB Mk 9a Edited September 12 by Valhalla
A J Rimmer
It'll be interesting to see how you get on with this Ian, I've tried it a couple of times and given up. Certainly I remember the fit of the resin intakes to be interesting. It should look great once it's all together though.
Valhalla
I'll give the intakes a go but if all else fails I'll revert to the stock intakes and use the Flightpath set to drop the intake doors
Ratch
This is the one I built two years ago. XV788 Flying Officer Paul Meade No.1453 Flight, Port Stanley, Royal Air Force, Falkland Islands, 1984.
Pretty Mediocre Modeller
Just a quick warning. I see you have an airbrake insert for a Sea Harrier, this may not be compatible with the RAF Harrier, as the airbrakes were different sizes on the 2 aircraft.
Valhalla
Thanks, I did note it was for a Sea Harrier but I wasn't sure if it would be correct for the GR3. Glad you said as I just checked and it is different. Guess I'll have to scratch build it instead. I do have the FRS-1 as well so it wont go to waste Cheers Ian
Valhalla
Considering these tools were made back in 1974 the quality of this compressor fan is so good. (ignoring the minor sink mark in the centre 🙂 ) So much better than some of the other moulds they were producing back then Ian
Valhalla
The back of the Pegasus has a thermal blanket to protect the airframe from the heat Tried a few different materials and I think I'm going to settle with Micropore plaster to replicate this. Need to have a play with colour though. Â Edited September 13 by Valhalla
Valhalla
This is as far as I have got today. Compressor fan panted and the rear ring of the Pegasus painted. Its supposed to look like heated metal but more like something from Christmas day at the moment! Ian Edited September 13 by Valhalla
A J Rimmer Posted Sunday at 08:28 Share Posted Sunday at 08:28 Nice metallics! That material should work well for the thermal blanket.
