Ratch Posted 9 hours ago Share Posted 9 hours ago Airfix 1/72 de Havilland Tiger Moth (A02106A) History: Still a familiar sight at airfields all over the world, the de Havilland Tiger Moth primary trainer made its first flight back in 1931 and provided British and Commonwealth air forces with thousands of trained pilots for their operational squadrons. Performing a similar role to this day, the Tiger Moth allows prospective Warbird pilots to gain valuable experience in flying a tail-dragger aircraft. In-box Review: This is a re-issue of the kit first issued in 2014. The Type 18 box is in the traditional tray and lid type. Dimensions are 102mm x 124mm. Parts count is 42 pieces. Skill Level is 2 and one Flying Hour is printed on the box. Moulded on four sprues, details are well defined from the cockpit interior to the fine, fabric covered wings and fuselage. Two crew figures are included (one has his lower legs amputated). The country of manufacture is India. Sprue A Sprue B Sprue C Sprue D Instructions are printed in an 8-page, A4 booklet over 21 steps, with a loose flyer showing rigging diagrams. Full colour diagrams are provided for paint colours and decal placements. The marking options are: Scheme A: de Havilland Tiger Moth, Aircraft flown by Major Glenn E Duncan, 353rd Fighter Group, United States Army Air Force, Station 366/Royal Air Force Metfield, Suffolk, England, September 1943. Scheme B: de Havilland Tiger Moth, HMAS Albatross/Naval Air Station Nowra, Royal Australian Navy, New South Wales, Australia, 1950s. Decals are by Cartograf, ensuring good registration, sharpness, density of colour, and unobtrusive carrier film.
